Senior Cost Basis Specialist

Location: Fully Remote (MUST reside local to Scottsdale, AZ or Valley Forge, PA)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Basis Specialist to deliver exceptional service on complex client accounts. Leveraging advanced cost basis expertise, you will independently research, analyze, and recommend processing strategies using specialized industry systems and tactical techniques.

In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert—providing guidance and training to junior team members, assisting with statement audits, drafting communications, and leading unit initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complex Case Review: Review high-complexity client requests for accuracy, good order, and regulatory compliance. Partner with internal divisions to ensure timely, accurate resolution.

  • Cost Basis Calculation & Maintenance: Calculate and maintain detailed cost basis data for client holdings using proprietary software, ensuring strict adherence to IRS regulations, legal requirements, and internal procedures.

  • Historical Data Reconstruction: Analyze historical records from clients and external investment firms to reconstruct, adjust, or verify cost basis accuracy.

  • Corporate Actions Analysis: Evaluate corporate actions to determine cost basis implications, validate systematic output, make necessary manual adjustments, and ensure accurate data display across client-facing resources.

  • Team Leadership & Support: Assist with statement audits, report analysis, correspondence drafting, and department initiatives while training and guiding Cost Basis associates.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Education: Undergraduate degree preferred (or equivalent combination of training and experience).

  • Background: Prior experience in accounting, finance, or the brokerage industry strongly preferred.

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Strong proficiency with computer systems and the ability to quickly master proprietary software programs.

  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-resolution abilities.

  • Exceptional time management and task prioritization in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
