Position Summary

The Sourcing Analyst performs rapid sourcing activities to ensure the consistent, fair procurement of products and services at the best execution and price. Shepherding engagements through the defined sourcing triage process, this role focuses on low- to medium-complexity transactions—including owning a pipeline of medium-complexity engagements over $250k for an assigned category—while supporting Category Leads on high-complexity deals. The Sourcing Analyst interfaces heavily with business owners, internal stakeholders, legal, risk, contracting, and vendor management teams to build negotiation plans, manage competitive bids, and enforce procurement policy compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Execution & Pipeline Ownership: Own the pipeline of medium-complexity sourcing engagements over $250k for assigned categories. Partner with Category Leads on high-complexity deals, occasionally assisting with requisition and purchase order creation.

  • Competitive Bidding & Negotiations: Direct the end-to-end competitive bidding process (RFx). Engage business requestors to translate requirements into bid documentation, establish effective negotiation plans, and guide internal clients through contracting, evaluation agreements, supplier consolidation, and co-terming.

  • Triage & Stakeholder Collaboration: Shepherd engagements through the sourcing triage workflow, resolving operational roadblocks and interfacing cross-functionally with RFx, Contracting, Supplier Management, Vendor Management Offices (VMO), Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM), and Legal/Risk teams.

  • Operational Closure & Handoffs: Ensure accurate transaction closure, including seamless handoffs to Purchasing and Payables, validating supplier compliance with payment terms, and delivering completed documents to Contracting for cataloging and storage.

  • Policy Compliance & Governance: Enforce crew adherence to corporate procurement policies, procedures, and ethical sourcing practices.

  • Process Improvement & Departmental Support: Continuously evaluate ways to raise standards, optimize ESM processes, support technology initiatives, and contribute to special projects.

Fully Successful Behaviors

  • Strategic Pipeline Management: Efficiently manages a strategic book of business across varied engagement types, including RFXs, Statements of Work (SOWs), High-Speed Operations (HSOs), renewals, and new deals.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Provides strong support to mid- and senior-level category leads on key strategic deals while managing internal client expectations.

  • Process Leadership: Leads by example in promoting sourcing best practices, procedural efficiencies, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in business or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.

  • Work Experience: Preferred 5 years of general business experience, including 5 years of hands-on experience buying goods/services and conducting contract negotiations.

  • System & Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience utilizing financial support systems, procurement tools, and e-commerce platforms.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of interfacing effectively across all levels of an organization (internal and external).
